Verisign says it has applied for the .pki generic top-level domain in ICANN's next new gTLD round. In its announcement introducing Verisign Informed, the company describes .pki as “a potentially useful gTLD within PKI usage scenarios.”
The statement appears at the end of Verisign's article about Verisign Informed, its certificate-status service. Verisign says the proposed .pki gTLD could be useful in public-key infrastructure (PKI) use cases.
